Remembering Winston Churchill

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Sir Winston Churchill, arguably the greatest man of the 20th century – the man who saved the world from Nazi tyranny.

“Every free man and woman in the world today owes a tremendous debt to Winston Churchill” said AVC President Jim Roberts.

In an effort to acquaint today’s young people with Winston Churchill, the AVC partnered with Miami University and the Churchill Center to sponsor a program titled “Churchill Week at Miami” featuring the Hon. Celia Sandys, granddaughter of Churchill and the author of five books on her grandfather, as guest lecturer.

In November of 2014, Ms. Sandys gave four lectures at Miami on various aspects of Churchill’s’ life including “Churchill as Leader” and “Churchill: the Power of Rhetoric” Ms. Sandys also joined students and faculty at Miami for a lunch and dinner. These photos show Ms. Sandys at “Churchill Week in Miami.”
